4th-5th Grade students will be part of an expeditionary team tasked with exploring a US Region. They will explore the geography, history, culture (regionalisms), and intrinsic features (products, national importance, etc.) that make the regions unique apart from their geography. This allows students to learn and understand how much geography affects the way humans plan and organize themselves, their labor, recreation, and cultural proclivities. This will result in the understanding of how the regions influence their own life currently, and potentially in the future.
2nd-3rd Grade students will be preparing for a Mystery Skype session with schools in other part of the country. They will become experts on Arizona, so that they are able to answer questions so students in other schools can try and guess our location, and they will practice their deductive reasoning skills so they may deduce where the other schools are located by using geographical clues.
K-1st Grade students will be introduced to the five main categories of geography, which includes symbols, directions, scale location and globe. They will learn and practice these skills through stories, their school environment, and a treasure hunt.
